  • School Pictures are tomorrow and Wednesday. You will be taking pictures during your English class. Check with your English teacher to be sure you know when your pictures will be taken. 

 

  • Coach Osborne has a Driver’s Ed class coming up. It starts right after Labor Day.  The cost is $295 and you must be 15 and possess a TIP Card. See Coach Osborne in the PE gym or cafeteria during lunch if you are interested.

 

  • The  1st Annual Rebel Cornhole Tournament to be held during all 3 lunches. The tournament starts TODAY and will finish on Friday with the Championship match during lunch.  The 2 winners of all 3 lunch shifts will receive a year's supply of Friday spirit shirts from the Rebel Store!!!There are still a few spots available so go by Mrs. Knox's room #3109 ASAP and get signed up. If you don’t want to sign up, you can still participate by watching the matches and cheering on the students who are competing. 

 

  • The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career-planning tools designed to help students explore the world of work.  The ASVAB test will be given Thursday, September 28th. You have to sign up before Sept 8th —which is next week—-- with Mrs. Williams or any US History teacher. 

 

  • Did you know that West Monroe High School has opened a care closet?

  • The care closet is for students in need and offers items such as hygiene products, school supplies, and clothing.

  • You can also visit Mrs. Amy Johnson in Student Services, Miss Katie Boutwell in room 1222, or Mrs. Alexis Walker in room 1217 if you need any items from the care closet.

 

 If you answer yes to any of these questions, go see Mrs. Ballance in 2207.

  • Do you know another language?

  • Do you want to take a test to receive your world language credits for graduation?


Well, the AAPPL (apple) test will be given Monday, Sept 25. The cost of the test is $20 and you must register by September 18.

 

Depending upon your test score, you could receive up to 4 high school credits and qualify for the Louisiana Seal of Biliteracy. 

 

The WMHS Library will be OPEN starting TODAY. Stop by before school at 7:35 or on your lunch shift to see all of the awesome brand-new library books or enjoy the makerspace activities. Your librarians look forward to seeing you soon!

 

Do you love Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits? 

NOW IS THE TIME to ORDER ONLINE to pick up a chicken biscuit before class on Thursday, September 7th! Order quickly at gorebs.org under Online School Payments because there will be a limited number of biscuits sold. Chicken biscuits are $4 and proceeds will help put amazing books into the hands of our students!

 

The clubs that have deadlines for membership this week are…

 

Biology Club - To become a member, you must bring a donation for the local animal shelter BEFORE FRIDAY. Get some puppy food, kitten food, or cat litter and go see Mrs. Knox in Room 3109 so you can join. Those interested in being a member and those who were in the club last year must apply. 

 

Jr. Civitans is also working on membership this week. To be a member, you need to attend a meeting TOMORROW right after school in Mrs. Beach’s Room which is Room 6206. Those interested in being a member and those who were members last year need to attend. And, just in case you are unsure if you are interested, this club is dedicated to helping our school and community, with an emphasis on people with special needs and developmental disabilities.

 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is starting this week. To be a member, all you do is show up to the meetings. These are held Wednesday mornings at 7:15 in the New Gym. Everyone is welcome. The meetings feature guest speakers and fellowship. 

 

If you are interested in Amateur Radio Club, you need to attend a meeting TOMORROW right after school in the STEM building. See Mrs. Cavin in the library for more info.

 

RebelNation, otherwise known as the Student Section, is open for membership, but the deadline to join is THIS FRIDAY. To join, you can purchase an athletic pass or pay a $3 fee to Mrs. Leslie Jones in Room 3103.

 

If you enjoy Board Games, you may want to join the Board Game Club. To become a member, you need to attend a meeting this WEDNESDAY right after school in the library.

 

To get your name on this year’s Interact ballot, you must bring an item to donate to Bawcomville Hope. 

Seniors should bring 3 cans of Ravioli

Juniors- A box of cereal

Sophomores - 3 cans of soup, 

and freshman should bring Spaghetti noodles and a can of spaghetti sauce. No glass jars please. Items should be delivered to Mrs knox in room 3109 by TOMORROW.

 

Do you like history?  Do you want to help local organizations such as the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum and the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home?  

The history club may be a good fit for you.  

If you are in the 11th or 12th grade and interested in joining the history club, please see Mr. Aswell’s Teacher Page on Gorebs.org for more information and the link to the application.  

Applications are due by Friday September 1st which is THIS FRIDAY, so get this taken care of ASAP.   

 

Student Council - To be a member this year, you need to attend a Meeting Tues Sept 5th at 6:30 in the library. Those interested AND those who were on Student Council last year need to attend.

 

You also have another week to join Key Club. Applications are available outside Mrs. Leslie Jones’s room which is room 3103. They are due back to her by Sept 5th. Former Key Club members and those interested in being members must apply.

 

National Honor Society won’t be accepting new members until second semester. In January, applications will open to Juniors only. BUT….if you are a junior who wants to be a member of National Honor Society, you might want to check out the membership eligibility on gorebs.org to be sure you are good to apply  when it’s time.

Tennis tryouts are TOMORROW at the tennis courts. You need paperwork completed before you can tryout. If you don’t have that paperwork, you should See Coach Green in the Old gym as soon as possible.

 

This Friday is our first home football game of the season. The Rebels face Sterlington at 7 pm in Rebel Stadium. For this game, Friday is SPIRIT DAY and all students and staff are asked to wear RED. It will also be senior night for the football players, so come support these players.

If you are planning to attend the football game or any sport this year, you might consider purchasing an athletic pass. These are $30 and get you into all regular season home games of any WMHS sport. See Coach Walker in Room 5210 or Coach McDuffie in Room 5207 or you can purchase your pass online through Online School payments.
